City of Waynesville Spray Ground

"The Waters Flowing"  Not unfamiliar words lately. Unlike the usual meaning though this time the talk is about the new Splash Park in Waynesville. The Waynesville-St Robert Chamber of Commerce was at the Announcement, Thursday at 5 p.m., for the opening of the new $200,000 park.  It is a zero-depth water facility, so it doesn’t require Lifeguards and children of any age can enjoy the park. The hours are from 9 a.m. to dusk.   There is a central “on” button which once pushed will run the water for 20 minutes. During inactivity the water will shut off.   M ayor Cliff Hammock was on hand to push the “on” button and start the water sprayers. The City Administrator Bruce Harrill and Park Board Chairman Roger Olney were also at the event.

 The Spray park was built to help replace the pool after it was closed for safety reasons.
Busy 4 You

The Waynesville-St. Robert Chamber of Commerce welcomed Busy 4 You as its newest member with a Ribbon Cutting on June 9, 2008 at the Chamber of Commerce.  Busy 4 You is an “Errands and More” service. Mary Ludlow is the proud new owner of Curves and held a Ribbon Cutting to mark the event on February 25, 2008.  Curves is located at 1100 W. The Waynesville-St. Robert Chamber of Commerce welcomed Pulaski Medical Clinic to the community by holding a Ribbon Cutting on January 23, 2008.   The new clinic is open weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and is located at 107 Ichord Ave. in the Waynesville, Cross Creek Plaza.  Jessica Kosut, M.D., sees patients on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays and specializes in pediatrics.  Lee Parks, D.O., sees patients on Tuesdays and Thursdays and specializes in family practice. Greater Ozarks Chapter, IAAP (International Association of Administrative Professionals)

  The Greater Ozarks Chapter, IAAP (International Association of Administrative Professionals) recently joined the Chamber and held a Ribbon Cutting to celebrate the event. Missouri Ozarks Community Action, Inc ( MOCA)

Missouri Ozarks Community Action, Inc (MOCA) along with the Waynesville-St. Robert Chamber of Commerce held their Ribbon Cutting on November 30th at their office on 103 Ichord Ave. Suite A in Waynesville.  Missouri Ozarks Community Action, Inc. (MOCA) is a non-profit community action agency, People Helping People.  MOCA is dedicated to helping families and individuals in the eight central Missouri counties of Camden, Crawford, Gasconade, Laclede, Maries, Miller, Phelps, and Pulaski.

MOCA's goal is to help low income people become self-sufficient. This is accomplished through the aid of federal, state, local, and private resources. The Mission of Missouri Ozarks Community Action is to prepare and enable all people to become self-sustaining, thereby enhancing the families and communities of tomorrow.

H.E.A.R.T.s Astride

H.E.A.R.T.s Astride, a non-profit organization, located at 16250 Hwy 17 in Crocker, Missouri held a ribbon cutting ceremony on October 26th.  H.E.A.R.T.s Astride (Handicap Equine Assisted Riding Therapy) offers therapeutic riding for physically, mentally, and emotionally challenged children and young adults.   Therapeutic Riding, also known, as Equine Assisted Therapy, Equine Facilitated Therapy and Riding for the Disabled, is the use of the horse and equine-oriented activities to achieve a variety of therapeutic goals.  This is accomplished by combining instruction in traditional horsemanship skills with concepts of physical activities to improve the strength, balance and self-esteem of children and adults who are physically and/or mentally disabled. Waynesville Community Foundation

The Waynesville Community Foundation held their ribbon cutting on August 28th at the Waynesville sign in the heart of the downtown area.  This non-profit organization was founded to help support the efforts of Waynesville and its citizen’s as they continue revitalizing this growing city. 

Lowe's Home Improvement

Lowe’s Home Improvement Store opened its new location in St. Robert on August 30th.  Grand Opening festivities included a board cutting by St. Robert Mayor George Sanders and the presentation of a $1,000 donation to Habitat for Humanity of Pulaski County.

The home improvement store has 94,000 square feet of retail sales space, with an adjacent garden center, stocking 32,000 different items to help customers build, improve and beautify their homes. Pointe Lookout Villas

Point Lookout Villas, located in Hickory subdivision of St. Robert, marked their return to Waynesville- St. Robert Chamber of Commerce with a ribbon cutting held August 24th.  The Pointe Lookout Villas are a 64 unit multi-family development consists of 12 all brick buildings. There is a large community room which is available to the tenants.  This project was made possible by the Missouri Housing Development Commission (MHDC) with the support of the City of St. Robert and military officials at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. Advancia Corporation

The Waynesville-St. Robert Chamber of Commerce recently held a ribbon cutting ceremony to commemorate Advancia Corporation's St. Robert office's 10th anniversary. During the ceremony Chamber President Steve Lynch commented on the contributions Advancia has made to the community and the importance of such milestone celebrations.

Advancia Corporation also held a simultaneous open house to mark this occasion. On hand was Advancia President Rudy Alvarado who spoke on Advancia's dedication to their clients. He went on to say that he sees Advancia as a kind of steward of taxpayers' monies and that is something they take very seriously.

Advancia employees Chuck Ockrassa and Dave Neeley were honored during the event for their 10 years of service. Also recognized were other employees who have been with the company for over five years.

An additional cake cutting ceremony was held, lunch was provided by Peppers Sports Bar and Grill, and door prizes were awarded.

Wingmen Motorcycle Club of Devils Elbow

Started in 1979 in Italy by a group of 509th Airborne Infantry soldiers who were also motorcyclists, the Wingmen Motorcycle Club has grown to be a National Organization with chapters spread all over the United States.  The Wingmen Motorcycle Club, Devils Elbow Chapter, infuse the camaraderie that brought together the founding members with a desire to serve their community.  This organization contributes to the following community events: Annual Support the Troops Motorcycle Run; Developed the Rich Hale Jr.  Memorial Scholarship which gives high school seniors a $1000 scholarship to any technical/trade college; Developed and organized the Annual Pulaski County Car and Bike Show; Contributors of over $3000 towards the annual Toys for Tots Christmas Drive; Collectors and distributors of winter coats during the annual Christmas on the Square Program; as well as Numerous charity and fundraisers supported by local motorcycle riding club. Full Tilt Riders Motorcycle Club

The Full Tilt Riders Motorcycle Club began on the West Coast in Portland Oregon during the summer of 2003 when like minded individuals got together with this mission: “…to build a strong and positive brother and sisterhood of people who share a passion for motorcycle riding. Their mission is also to project a positive and safety conscious image of riders to the community at large and provide community service activities in urban areas and foster an atmosphere of camaraderie between all communities.”

Pulaski P.O.S.T. (Providing Officer Support Together)

PULASKI P.O.S.T. (Providing Officer Support Together) was formed to increase public education and awareness of the financial needs of the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Department. Countywide activities and meetings will strengthen the stability of the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Department, as well as promote community educational services and activities pertaining to or sponsored by the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Department. Christian Motorcyclist Association #949 "Spirit of the Highway"

The basic purpose of a Christian Motorcyclists Association (CMA) Chapter is to support the National CMA in its effort of sharing and showing the love of Jesus Christ to motorcyclists.  The CMA provides and encourages members to be active in testimony and Christian witnessing to all motorcyclists; provides a Christian fellowship ride group; and provides an evangelistic association for motorcycling.

Genesis: A Place of New Beginnings Ground Breaking

Genesis: A Place of New Beginnings officially broke ground Wednesday, March 28th for the new Genesis shelter for battered women and children in Waynesville.  Many community leaders and supporters were on hand to witness the groundbreaking along with the Good Samaritan Board of Directors, who operate Genesis: A Place of New Beginnings. 

While $400,000 is still needed to complete the $1.5 million building, Pulaski County Presiding Commissioner Bill Ransdall was proud to accept a grant for $300,000 from the State Department of Economic Development Business and Community Services.  As fundraising efforts continue, Good Samaritan Board of Directors President Ollie Jackson is encouraged by the progress of the project. A Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting was held April 3rd at Lynch's Furniture & Appliance celebrating the completion of their new Broyhill Furniture Gallery. Attending the event on behalf of Broyhill Furniture was David Epperson and Kelly Lawhon.  As part of the celebration door prizes of two $500 Broyhill Gift Certificates were given away. In a show of community support Lynch’s Furniture also took this opportunity to make donations of  three $500 checks were presented to representatives from the American Red Cross, the Armed Services YMCA and the Veteran’s Memorial Fund. 

In 1942, P.R. Lynch opened Lynch’s Furniture with absolutely nothing, but with the help of his two oldest sons, Tom and Vic, business flourished and Lynch’s became the unofficial “information center” for the community.  That family tradition continued as Steve came into the business in 1975 as P.R. retired. The Order of Demolay is an organization for young men 12 to 20 years old. Over 3 million young men have belonged to DeMolay since it was founded in 1919. Although DeMolay Chapters are sponsored by Masonic groups; it is not a junior Masonic organization. It is an organization dedicated to guiding young men in a program of worthwhile activities and a place to form lasting friendships. organization for young women, ages 11-21. We also have a "Little
Sisters" group for ages 8-11. We meet in Waynesville, but live all over Pulaski County. We meet twice a month (on the first and third Mondays at the Waynesville Masonic Lodge) where we carry on our own business, under the guidance of our super adult advisors. We learn leadership skills, ritualistic work, and do service for our cities, county, state, and nation. We promote love for our God. our country, and our family. We work together for a better world. Pulaski Family Activity Coalition

It is the vision of the Pulaski Family Activity Coalition to provide events and activities of empowerment through family lectures, seminars and conferences; networking with organizations locally and nationally to create global unity; and providing an atmosphere of safe enriching development and genuine love for all.  It is their goal to speak relevantly to the issues impacting the family system, work cooperatively with agencies that provide family services, offer activities which foster holistic growth in the areas of positive values, self esteem and personal growth, to encourage personal service through volunteerism in our community, to support the pursuit of excellence in academic development and to celebrate unity within the context of diversity.

The PFAC is currently reaching that vision by providing the following activities: family workshops, feeding programs for youth and elderly, tutoring, tournaments, field trips, summer camps, thousands of dollars in scholarships to high school seniors annually, holding Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Commemorative events, supporting African-American Heritage Month and providing disaster relief aid.
