Chamber Announces New VP

Due to work obligations Chamber Board Member Perry Roberts has resigned from his position as Board Vice President. That position was filled during the April Board Meeting by Mike Dunbar who will become President on July 1, 2009 at the end of Steve Lynch's term. We thank Mike for stepping up and filing this vacancy on such short notice. We appreciate his time and commitment.

The Chamber Thanks YOU!

We would like to thank everyone for coming out and helping us celebrate the completion of our new offices during our Open House held April 25th. You kindness and generosity enabled us to turn what seemed like a hopeless endeavor into a successful accomplishment. We'd like to take this moment to thank our membership for their continued support, no matter how little or large you're all our heroes.

We'd also like to point out those special contributors who donated through the Wires, Walls and Rooms Campaign. Words fail us at times like these. To be the recipients of such generosity is both humbling and inspiring. Thank You.

Can We Talk?

The world we live in has changed so dramatically over the last few decades due to a boom in technology. It seems everyone is officially tuning in and getting their weekly, daily or even hourly information updates through the web. One of the best ways to keep contact these days is through a social network, sites like Linked In, Facebook or even MySpace. The Chamber is excited to announce the launch of their own social network site where you can view photos, post discussion topics or just check up on what's going on with the Chamber. We hope you will join us!

President's Message

Greetings everyone. Last month, I put a test in my part of the newsletter to see if anyone reads it. My greatest fear was realize. Hardly anyone responded to me. But for those that did, THANK YOU! I actually do put time and thought into what I write. I care about you and your businesses. I want to see everyone successful! And there are great success stories all around our area. In a time of bad news just about everywhere, it's wonderful to live in a community and hear good news so often! Also let say what a great turnout we had at our office ribbon cutting and open house. Thanks again to everyone who made it a reality!

Your Grateful Pres,
Steve

Tourism Notes

Spring is here and along with it brings the tourist season. Many folks don't think of Pulaski County as a vacation destination, but in these economic times, our area fits perfectly into the budget of families.

Even just for a weekend getaway there is plenty to do. On Saturday, grab the family and explore Pulaski County. Where else can you visit state of the art military museums? Three indoor museums are housed at the Army Museum Complex. There is also a WWII Barracks area filled with history of how our soldiers have lived as well as the German Prisoners that were housed on the fort. The two museums down in Waynesville are open to the public on Saturdays 10am to 4pm April through September. The Old Stagecoach Stop, which also served as a Civil War Hospital, boasts over 10 rooms of history from the log cabin room to the 50's apartment. Step back in time at the Pulaski County Courthouse Museum. Every nook and cranny of this museum is full of rich history of the local area as well as military history from the days of Fort Waynesville to current military conflicts.
