Tourism Notes

April is an exciting time for the Pulaski County Tourism Bureau and Visitors Center. The staff is gearing up for the increase in travelers stopping in the center, receiving in travel guides from cities across the state of Missouri and also this is also the time of the year we start seeing the groups and motor coaches that will stop in Pulaski County to enjoy an array of activities from visiting area museums, getting their kicks with Terry Primas' step on guided tour of Route 66 and dining in area restaurants. Please welcome the following groups for the month of April.

April 1st and 2nd Boy Scout Troup 627
April 14th Legends Bank and Providence Bank
April 19 Velda Kelley Tours
April 21st Providence Bank

We are also excited to provide tour activities for our friends from the Dutch Royal Army. This will be the fourth opportunity we have had to provide fun activities for them to enjoy while they are training at Fort Leonard Wood the end of April. We do encourage businesses to welcome these groups on their outdoor signs to let them know we appreciate them and are excited to share our county with them.

April is also the month that area museums open for the tourist season. The Pulaski County Courthouse Museum and the Old Stagecoach Stop Museum will be open each Saturday from April through September from 10am until 4pm. We are very fortunate to have these museums and the wonderful history that they provide. I encourage everyone to visit these museums.
Karen recently attended the Tri-States Agritourism Conference held in Pittsburg, Kansas. This conference was aimed towards outdoor business such as outfitters, farms, wineries and more. The Bureau was invited to be a guest panelist offering insight on how our bureau works with our area partners.

This same week I attended the Heritage Club Peer Group Conference in which I met with Bank Travel organizations throughout the US. This conference offers us opportunities through an expo and one-on- one appointments.

April area events: April 14-17th the Waynesville High School Drama Club will be performing "The Sound of Music". And April 16th will be a busy day with plenty of activities ranging from county-wide Easter Egg Hunts, Sportsmen's Garage Sale, golf tournament and the Richland Saddle Club Fun Show. And don't forget downtown Waynesville's Third Thursday event! Details on these events can be found at VisitPulaskiCounty.org.

For those that were not aware, there will be major construction along Interstate 44 throughout Pulaski County starting April 4th. Please visit our link www.visitpulaskicounty.org/pdf/i44_construction.pdf to learn more about the project and for additional links to MoDot information. The Visitors Center also has a limited supply of maps available to the public.
