Knox-Box Rapid Entry System
The City of St. Robert recognizes the importance and need
of providing the fire department rapid entry into locked buildings.
Delays in the fire department gaining rapid entry reduces
the occupants chance of survival in a fire, the chances for
sub-stantial property damage increases because of delays in
gaining entry to the struc-ture and fire fighter safety and
survival may be compromised because of such de-lays.
Therefore, on May 2, 2011, City Council passed an ordinance
establishing a Knox-Box System whereby Saint Robert Police
and/or Fire Department can gain access to locked premises
to render assistance. The ordinance applies only to new construc-tion
commercial and industrial buildings and commercial and industrial
structures requiring a change of occupancy (use) inspection.
This ordinance excludes state or federally regulated banks,
savings and loans, and credit unions from compliance with
this ordinance.
More than 11,500 fire departments nationwide use Knox®
key boxes. Knox-Boxes are manufactured by the Knox Company.
Knox has taken may steps to make the Knox-Box as secure and
vandal resistant as possible and has submitted their products
for testing at an independent test lab (UL) to make sure that
they meet the security standards they advertise.

Fire Department Update
Continuing our efforts to provide the best Fire and Emergency
service protection available for our citizens to go along
with everything else that is happening throughout the city
we are increasing our training to go along with the services
we pro-vide. We have just gradu-ated 10 students (7 from SRFD)
from our most recent Firefighter 1 & 2 class making our
personnel some of the best trained in the state of Missouri.
Working hand in hand with the Missouri Division of Fire Safety
we offer this class annually constantly improving our knowledge
and skills in order to better serve our community.
For any who desire CPR or the BLS for Healthcare Providers
Course, we have regu-larly scheduled classes at no charge,
other than the cost of the CPR card, for any of our citizens
who desire to learn this very vital life-safety technique
for emergencies that may occur at any time. If you desire
to participate in one of our many CPR/BLS classes, please
call our office at 573-451-2000, ext. 3103 and ask for Lt.
Shoe-maker for scheduling.
In the midst of the storm season causing the sirens to be
used so often we have-nt seen a need for testing in
the midst of the storm season, but with most of the storm
season now being over we will need to again begin testing
to make sure they are working properly when they are needed.
Please be aware that we will be giving notice of renewed testing
of our storm sirens on a monthly basis. Be watching the newspapers
and other local media notices for more information on future
testing pro-cedures.
